The Inspiration

Only recently did we make our first Oak ukulele at Bondi HQ. We love testing out new woods and seeing how they sound & look. It's one of the perks of being an instrument manufacturer. So we made a sample oak uke, fully expecting it to flop. I mean, we'd never heard of anyone making a uke out of oak before!

We could not have been more surprised. We love the sustain of this uke & the tone is very similar to mahogany but just a touch brighter, which matches it's appearance. The appearance of the oak is striking, we absolutely adore it. It's chock full of personality and the sound is spot on, welcome to the Bondi family young Oakulele!

I recommend this product
Nice sound and good value package, but not perfect.

It’s an attractive ukulele with a nice sound and a good value package. There are a few things that could be improved though. Most importantly it was sold as an instrument for left handlers, but it’s just a right handed machine that’s been strung upside down. It was bought for a learner, so this is very disappointing as the dots on the side of the fret board aren’t visible for left handed players. The other improvement is that the hard case is too big for the instrument, so it needs packing around it if you’re going to travel with it.
