In the warm desert heat of Arizona, surrounded by cacti and the resilient wildlife that thrive here, the city of Phoenix rises from the ground much like it’s proverbial “spirit” animal. Over one and a half million people call Phoenix home, and it’s no surprise that with a booming population like this, the music scene is a very big part of their culture and everyday life. So, let’s turn over a few rocks and see what kinds of doors your Bondi Ukulele can open for you in the city of Phoenix.

The Phoenix Ukulele Meetup Group is a quick, fifteen minutes north of downtown Phoenix and gets together once a week. These folks have a whole array of activities available. There are normal weekly jam sessions, themed jam sessions (where everyone gets the chance to express their inner 1920’s persona, as one example) as well as an event called the Daily Ukulele. Organizers Jim and Liz Beloff have compiled a book titled: The Daily Ukulele which contains a song for each day of the year to keep you strumming along on your own. The Phoenix Ukulele Group can be contacted through their Meetup.com events page, which is listed below.

The Sun City Ukulele Club, based in (yup, you guessed it) Sun City, is twenty-five minutes from the Phoenix business hub. They meet weekly in the Fairway Rec Centre and activities include practice sessions and events where you can see well-known Ukulele players like Daniel Ward (world renowned educator and flamenco ukulele player). Membership is open only to RCSC card holders and their invited guests, but a mere ten dollars buys you a year’s worth of association with the club and ample opportunity to showcase your talents on your new Bondi Uke and make some new friends at the same time. Sounds good, right? The strummers over in Sun City can be reached through their website listed below.

If you’re more of a laid-back, hobby uker the Ukulele Strummers of Glendale could be just the fit for you. According to organizer Larry D they are a friendly group of players who get together every other week for some easy-going ukulele fun at Cucina Tagliana Restaurant in the Glendale Market Square. It’s a fun and relaxing atmosphere where beginners can feel very comfortable taking their first steps on the ukulele journey without the worry of having to catch up to the level of the group. The Strummers of Glendale can be reached on their Meetup.com page listed below.

If sun, sand and the warm personalities of the people of Phoenix that matches the temperature outside is your destination of choice, be sure to pack your Bondi Uke and meet up with any of these groups, whether you’re in it for fun or your plan is to dominate the Ukulele world, you’re sure to find your niche in the Valley of the Sun. All you have to do is open your door and step out.

Climate note for your ukulele: Phoenix is the hottest big city in the US, average summer humidity 20-30%, daily highs above 110F for months. Inside a parked car the dash hits 180F. Both will destroy a ukulele. Never leave it in the car. Use a sound-hole humidifier (Oasis or D'Addario Humidipak) year-round. Solid wood needs 40-60% to stay stable; Phoenix sits well below that.

Frequently Asked About Ukulele Phoenix

Where can I buy a ukulele in Phoenix?

Bondi ships to Phoenix in 1-3 days with a free songbook bundle. Local options are Bizarre Guitar on N 7th Ave, Music Magic in Paradise Valley, and Milano Music down in Mesa. Most carry beginner Kalas; for a concert mahogany set up out of the box with a hard case, Bondi is the most direct option.

Are there ukulele lessons in Phoenix?

Phoenix Ukulele Group runs weekly jams just north of downtown, free to attend. Sun City Ukulele Club in the West Valley features ukulele educator Daniel Ward. Northwest Valley Ukulele Club meets weekly at Fellowship Square in Surprise. All three are free, beginners welcome, and faster than paid lessons.

When does the Phoenix ukulele meetup happen?

Phoenix Ukulele Group meets weekly with themed jam sessions (Daily Ukulele is the core book). Sun City Ukulele Club has its own West Valley schedule. Northwest Valley Ukulele Club runs weekly out of Surprise. Phoenixukulelegroup.com has the live calendar for the main downtown group.

What's the best ukulele for a beginner in Phoenix?

A concert-size mahogany with a hard case. Phoenix dry air is brutal on solid wood. Bondi's concert mahogany ships set up and tuned, with a hard case, gig bag, and songbook. Add a $15 sound-hole humidifier and run it year-round, not just winter. Solid wood needs 40-60% humidity; Phoenix sits well below that.

Is there a ukulele festival in Phoenix?

The Arizona Aloha Festival at Tempe Town Lake (March 21-22, 2026) is the closest. Two days of Hawaiian and Polynesian music, Aunty Aloha's Ukulele Corner runs lessons on loaner ukes plus performances. Free entry. Make Music Phoenix on June 21 also pulls strummers to outdoor stages downtown.

How long does Bondi shipping take to Phoenix?

1-3 business days from our US warehouse via tracked express courier. Free shipping on orders over $50.

Can I find used ukuleles in Phoenix?

Reverb, Craigslist Phoenix, and the used wall at Bizarre Guitar turn over ukes. The catch in the desert: a used solid-top is often already cracked from low humidity. Inspect the soundhole edge, the bridge, and the back for hairline cracks. New from Bondi includes setup, a hard case, and warranty.

What music genres has Phoenix produced?

Stevie Nicks and Linda Ronstadt came up in Phoenix-Tucson. Alice Cooper basically built shock rock here. Jimmy Eat World, Gin Blossoms, Meat Puppets, and Roger Clyne built the Tempe rock and indie scene. Dierks Bentley is the country contribution. Ukulele fits the singer-songwriter side, alive at Crescent and Valley Bar.
